Yesterday, the PCGHS Harmonica Band organized its annual general meeting (AGM) on Microsoft Teams. During the AGM, the president of the PCGHS Harmonica Band, Koay En Qi , announced the AJK list for the academic year 2024/2025. Following that, the AJKs started discussing and planning activities for the whole year.
The president was announcing the AJK list, and AJK members were discussing the planning for the whole year.

Throwback 2023 School Concert（乐•悦）Performance

On 23rd September 2023, Penang Chinese Girls’ High School held a concert titled ‘乐•悦.’ Our harmonica band was honored to present an ensemble song to the audience. We performed ‘The Selection from PHANTOM OF THE OPERA,’ conducted by our vice conductor, Wong Yu Jue. We spent a lot of time practicing and polishing our ensemble song to ensure that we delivered a good performance. Thanks to this performance, our members have greatly improved as the pressure served as motivation to strive for success. We hope to work harder and perform even better next year.

2024 Annual Concert (Echoes of Time)

Venue : Dewan CAT , Kompleks Masyarakat Penyayang Pulau Pinang
On 1st March 2024, the harmonica band held a concert titled ‘Echoes of Time’ with the theme of songs from the 1980s to the 2020s. This concert was a combined event with Chung Ling High School, Chung Ling Butterworth High School, Chong Hwa Independent High School Kuala Lumpur, and Chung Hua Independent High School Klang participating. We spent a lot of time practicing and polishing our concert songs to ensure that we delivered a good performance. Despite facing venue, lighting, and stage facility issues, all committee members and performers did their best to present a perfect concert to the audience. In conclusion, the concert was indeed successful and exposed more Penangites to the beauty of the harmonica. Thanks to this concert, our members have greatly improved as the pressure served as motivation to strive for success. We hope to organize another concert similar to this and continue it as a tradition.

2023 Annual Concert (Fantasy)

On 10th March 2023, the harmonica band held a concert titled ‘Fantasy’ with the theme of songs from movies, TV series, and games. This concert was a combined event with Chung Ling High School, Chung Ling Butterworth High School, and Chong Hwa Independent High School Kuala Lumpur participating. We spent a lot of time practicing and polishing our concert songs to ensure that we delivered a good performance. Although it was the first concert after two years of the pandemic, all committee members and members still did their best to present a perfect concert to the audience. In conclusion, the concert was indeed successful and exposed more Penangites to the beauty of the harmonica. Thanks to this concert, our members have greatly improved as the pressure served as motivation to strive for success. We hope to organize another concert similar to this and continue it as a tradition.

These three practice sessions were held in preparation for our annual combined concert. Everything went according to plan. Futhermore, they served as the final rehearsals leading up to the concert and as a countdown for the remaining three days until our annual event, ‘Echoes of Time’.All members of Penang Chinese Girls’s High School’s Harmonica Band have practiced their songs and rehearsed with members of Chung Ling High School’s Harmonica Band ,Chung Ling Butterworth High School’s Harmonica Band ,Chong Hwa Independent High School • Kuala Lumpur’s Harmonica Band ,and Chung Hua Independent High School Klang’s Harmonica Band.Lastly, these three practice sessions were also our last practices for 2023/2024 academic session.

Last Tuesday was the practice for our annual and combined concert. Everything went according to plan. Members of the PCGHS Harmonica Band had practiced concert ensemble songs with members of the CLHS Harmonica Band. Everyone did their best in the practice.
Section leaders led their members and taught them some techniques to play in the song.

Practice report 2/12

We started our practice physically in 2022 after the pandemic.
Last Saturday was the practice for our annual and combined concert. Everything went according to plan. F3s did their best to lead and guide their juniors as F4s were having their year-end exams and F5s were preparing for their SPM exams. Conductors of the songs and section leaders led their members to play songs well. Every member learnt more harmonica playing skills in the practice.
